The Square Buying Portal serves as the Resale buying and pricing module for both the free Square up Point of Sale (POS) System and comprehensive Square for Retail Inventory Management/POS System. The Portal provides for the outright purchase of items as well as for the acquisition of items on consignment. As the Square Up POS does not support the use of barcodes or include inventory management features, it is best used by buy-outright operations only where the tracking of individual items post-acquisition is not required. Like the Square Buying Portal, Square for Retail may be used by consignment operations as well.
The Portal records the acquisition of purchased or consigned items and suggests the “Right Price” and “Fair Payment” in terms of cash, store credit or consignment sum contingent on sale. These amounts are based on sales and cost data from Resale stores throughout North America. The Portal also manages the entry of seller and consignor Contact information and amounts paid them.
