Store Reviews

NextGen works with new owners to grow their businesses right from the start providing them with needed know-how , systems and support. We do this through our Licensing Program.

NextGen also works with current owners to grow their businesses and improve their productivity. We do this through consultation and training informed by Store Reviews.

NextGen works with most Children’s resale owners from the time they are first considering opening children’s resale stores through startup, growth and maturity. We do so through Licensing.

NextGen also works with owners of established stores helping find ways to improve their sales, profits and productivity. We do this through Store Reviews, which very often involve moving from largely consignment to largely buy outright.

The review is an expanded version of those done by Franchisors of franchisees. It excludes the “franchise rules-compliance” dimension; it includes additional “system” dimensions, e.g. POS review and recommendations, internet leveraging, … . All reviews are done by Diana Nazelli, the President/CEO of Nextgen. Diana has conducted dozens of store reviews, continually honing the process.

The review begins with a free assessment of the store’s market/location. This assessment is done to be sure that the location affords the potential to grow sales and profits, i.e. to be sure the review will pay dividends. If the location shows enough potential, NextGen will send the owner a store profile form for completion, at the owner’s request.

The first level review is conducted remotely based on the completed profile form and follow-up discussions with the owner(s). The review covers over two-dozen aspects of store performance, and requires a specified complement of store photos. The completed profile is analyzed within a week of receipt, and Diana arranges a call with the owner(s) to examine the results, recommendations.

Owner(s) may opt to follow with a second-level, on-site review. This involves a first-hand, more in-depth look into those aspects of store performance of particular concern (layout, displays, buying, selling, merchandising, customer care, advertising/PR, employee management, floor management, financial management, inventory management, reporting, merchandise preparation, pricing, internet use, point-of-sale system, signage, maintenance, … . It concludes with a written action plan prepared together with the owner(s).
Owners may also request training in some of these areas. The training is organized into 2-3 hour segments. It may be conducted on-site or remotely.
